By accessing or using Coglition ("the Service") at coglition.com or app.coglition.com, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Coglition. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

Coglition's AI-generated analysis is for informational and educational purposes only. Admission probability estimates are not guarantees of admission or rejection. College admissions decisions are made by individual institutions based on many factors beyond academic statistics. Coglition does not guarantee any specific outcome from using our platform.
You acknowledge and agree that:
When you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You may sign in using Google OAuth, Microsoft OAuth, email magic link, or email and password. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account at contact@coglition.com.
You retain ownership of any content you submit to Coglition, including essays, activity descriptions, and academic information ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Coglition a limited, non-exclusive license to use that content solely to provide and improve the Service. We will never share your essays or personal academic information with third parties without your consent. We may use anonymized, aggregated data to improve our AI models.
You agree not to:
Coglition is designed to help you present your authentic self — not to help you misrepresent yourself. Our platform does not write essays on your behalf. Essay grading and feedback are provided to help you improve your own writing. You are solely responsible for ensuring that all content you submit to colleges is accurate and complies with each institution's academic integrity policies.
All content on Coglition — including the name, logo, design, code, and AI models — is the property of Coglition and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our express written permission.
Coglition is currently free to use, including unlimited college list analysis. We reserve the right to introduce optional paid features in the future. If we introduce paid tiers, we will provide advance notice to existing users and ensure that a meaningful set of features — including unlimited college list analysis — remains free for all students, consistent with our mission.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Coglition shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes, without limitation, any college admission outcomes, academic decisions, or actions taken based on AI-generated guidance from our platform. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim (which, as a free service, is zero).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Coglition and its operators from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Coglition at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or that we determine is harmful to other users, the platform, or third parties. You may stop using the Service at any time and request deletion of your data by contacting us at contact@coglition.com.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect when changes were last made.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of North Carolina.
